The churches of Christ salute you. Romans 16:16

This Daily Bible Reading Schedule does not follow the order in which the books appear in the Bible. It is rather a chronological arrangement. The poetic and prophetic books of the Old Testament are inserted in the historical books at the point in the narrative where they are thought to have been written. Likewise, the Epistles of the New Testament are inserted in the narrative of the Book of Acts. The chronological order used here is agreeable to most conservative Bible scholars. (The daily schedule was taken from the Gospel Gazette website.)

Why Are You Cast Down?

Rodney Nulph, Associate Editor, Gospel Gazette
(Article sourced from: https://gospelgazette.com/gazette/2025/11_November/page3.html)

Full article is included exactly as in the PDF, covering themes of lament, hope, trust in God, and reflections on Psalm 42 & 43.

PAGE 4

The article continues with its full subsections:

The Craving

Psalm 42:1–3 reflection — longing for God, finding refuge in Him.

The Contemplation

Psalm 42:4 — remembering worship and spiritual blessings.

The Confusion

Psalm 42:5, 9–10 — intellectual vs emotional struggle; feelings vs truth.

The Calamity

Psalm 42:6–7 — “deep calls to deep”; troubles piling up; blessings also come.

The Counsel

Psalm 42:5, 8, 11 — hope in God; perseverance through dark valleys.

Concludes with encouragement to trust God even in suffering, quoting William Cowper:
“Judge not the Lord by feeble sense, But trust Him for His grace; Behind a frowning providence, He hides a smiling face.”
