Victor Glover, a U.S. Navy captain, test pilot, and NASA astronaut, is a faithful Christian who openly shares how his trust in God shapes his life.
He is a member of the Churches of Christ and worships with his wife Dionna and their four daughters. He emphasizes prayer, Bible study, and faithful service.
While aboard the International Space Station, he brought a Bible and communion supplies, worshiped regularly, and partook of the Lord’s Supper weekly.
He reminds us that Christians are united in Christ no matter where they are—even in space.
In 2026, he serves as pilot of NASA’s Artemis II mission, traveling around the Moon.
His message: “We need Jesus, whether on Earth or orbiting the Moon.”

It is true that Easter was originally a pagan holiday named after Eastra, the goddess of spring.
Sacrifices were offered each spring in her honor.
At the same time, the Jews celebrated Passover, commemorating God’s deliverance from Egypt.
Jesus celebrated Passover the night He instituted the Lord’s Supper — a memorial of His death and resurrection.
Jesus rose from the grave on the Sunday following Passover.
Christians are instructed to remember His sacrifice every Sunday: Acts 20:7 (NKJV)
When Christianity spread during the Roman Empire, Easter traditions were adapted into a so-called Christian celebration.
In Acts 12:4, the word “Easter” appears in the KJV, though most translations correctly say “Passover.”
God requires Christians to remember the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus every Sunday through the Lord’s Supper.
Romans 6:4–5 explains how baptism reflects Christ’s death and resurrection.
The writer concludes:
While the world remembers Jesus once a year, Christians remember Him every Sunday.

The Cure for a Tired Heart – Robert Harper II
We live in a time when discouragement is everywhere. It affects all people, regardless of personality or stage of life. Even strong, faithful individuals feel its weight.
Discouragement often targets dreamers, leaders, parents—those striving toward something meaningful. It leads to frustration, then spiritual fatigue, and eventually failure.
What’s the remedy?
Hebrews 12:3 says: “Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”
We are called to focus on Christ—reflect on Him, dwell on Him, and remember His endurance. This strengthens our hearts and helps us resist discouragement.
👉 Action Step: Take time this week to align your thoughts with God when you feel discouraged.

What is the Biblical significance of anointing?
In the Old Testament, anointing with oil set apart individuals for special roles:
Prophets
Priests
Kings
The Hebrew word “mashah” (anoint) leads to Messiah. The Greek word “chrio” leads to Christ.
Jesus is the Anointed One, fulfilling all three roles:
Prophet – Speaks for God
Priest – Offers Himself for atonement

The Terms and Conditions of Discipleship: Have We Really Agreed?

Win-Win: He gets the glory and we the joy.
Have you ever scrolled past the “Terms and Conditions” on a website or app and clicked “I agree” without reading a word? Of course you have. So have I.
We live in a world conditioned to skip fine print and fast-forward through anything that delays gratification. The assumption is: “If I want access, I just have to check the box.”
But what happens when we bring that same mindset into our relationship with God?
What happens when we want the benefits of faith—peace, joy, purpose, salvation—without understanding the terms and conditions of discipleship?
In Mark 8:34, Jesus makes them plain:
“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”
No shortcuts. No skip buttons.
It’s not a sales pitch—it’s a surrender.
Jesus isn’t looking for performance. He’s looking for proximity.
In Isaiah 6, the prophet sees the Lord high and exalted, and obedience becomes a privilege.
Isaiah goes from: “Woe is me” (v.5) to “Send me” (v.8)
Kyle Idleman writes in Not a Fan that Jesus isn’t looking for admirers—He’s looking for followers.
Following Christ means trusting Him even when we cannot fully understand.
Peter obeyed Jesus saying: “Nevertheless, at Your word…”
And the result was abundance.
Here is the paradox:
What feels like surrender leads to strength. What looks like sacrifice leads to satisfaction. And what begins with denying yourself ends with discovering who you truly are in Him.
When we meet His terms, He gets the glory—and we get the joy.
If you truly desire eternal life, seek Him with all your heart.
Because nothing—no success, relationship, achievement, or pleasure—is worth exchanging for your soul.
Maybe the real question isn’t: “Why is it so hard to follow Jesus?”
Maybe the better question is: “Have I truly seen Him?”

The Cure for a Tired Heart

We live in a time when one doesn’t have to look far to find discouragement. It isn’t confined to one group, personality type, or season of life. No matter how intentional we are about avoiding it, discouragement still seems to know our address. Even the most optimistic, confident, faith-filled person has felt its weight.
I’ve learned that discouragement often targets dreamers, goal-setters, leaders, parents or anyone striving toward something meaningful. The enemy understands something about the human soul: discouragement breeds frustration, frustration breeds spiritual fatigue, and fatigue often creates space for failure.
So what’s the remedy?
Hebrews 12:3 says: “Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”
Scripture invites us to consider Christ and dwell on Him, reflect on Him, rehearse His endurance. This isn’t passive thinking; it’s spiritual resistance. It’s getting in agreement with God. When we fix our eyes on Jesus, we fortify our hearts against weariness, frustration, and the quiet temptation to quit.
Jesus is essentially saying: Before you give up on what is worthy, consider the One who has considered you.
Action step: Take time this week to intentionally get in agreement with God when you feel tempted toward discouragement.
ANOINT
What Is the Biblical Significance of Anointing?
In the Old Testament, anointing with oil was used ceremonially to set apart special roles, especially those of prophets (1 Kgs. 19:16), priests (Ex. 28:41), and kings (1 Sam. 9:16).
The most common Hebrew word for “anoint” is mashah, from which comes the term Messiah.
The Greek word for “anoint” is chrio. The word Christ derives from that root.
Jesus becomes the “anointed One” (Acts 10:38) because in him are combined the roles of:
Prophet – (John 4:19; Acts 3:22ff) Priest – (Zechariah 6:12-13; Hebrews 3:1) King – (Matthew 2:2; Luke 1:32-33; Acts 2:30ff)
As prophet, Christ is the spokesman for God (John 1:18). As priest, he offered his blood for atonement (Hebrews 9:14). As king, he reigns at the right hand of God (1 Peter 3:22).

3/08: 2nd Sunday night singing following evening service. Please bring a dish to share.
3/23: Lunch Bunch will be meeting at Casa Sanchez located at 2264 S. Mountain Avenue, Ontario, at 11:30 a.m.
3/25: Last Wednesday of the month singing practice at 7 p.m.
3/28: The 3rd Annual Ladies’ Day at the Hi-Desert church of Christ will be held on Saturday, March 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration is available online at https://www.hidesertchurchofchrist.com/events/event-one-5npbf or by calling Lynette Dorling at 909-993-3086. This year’s theme is “Do Not Fear” (Isaiah 41:10).
3/29: Since March has five Sundays, our fifth Sunday potluck will be held on March 29, and the evening service will be canceled. Please bring a dish or 2 to share.
Looking ahead,
The Lincoln Avenue Church of Christ will host a ladies seminar on Saturday, April 25, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
All women are welcome to attend this seminar, which focuses on the theme “Healthy Woman, Healthy Life” (Titus 2:1-5).
A continental breakfast will be served at 8:00 a.m., followed by the program at 9:00 a.m. A luncheon will be held afterward.

Questions to ask before marriage. Take the time to evaluate character.
How do you handle disappointment? How do you handle correction? What is your relationship like with your parents? Who are your friends? Do you read your Bible and do you apply it? You go to church on Sunday but how do you act during the week? Why did your last relationship end and what did you learn about yourself? Do you believe in working? Are you lazy? Have you ever done anything illegal, if so, do you plan on doing it again? How do you act when you get mad … do you get loud, shut down, walk away, do you throw things? Do you clean up? Are you messy? And let’s be honest, how’s your relationship with soap and water? I need to know.
Marriage is indeed a big deal.

ANNIHILATION
Does the Bible Teach the Idea of Annihilation of the Wicked?
The doctrine of “annihilation” is the idea that eventually, after a sufficient period of punishment, the souls of the wicked will go out of existence. This dogma is without biblical support.
The punishment of those who die estranged from God is described as: “fire unquenchable” (Mt. 3:12). Final punishment is a state where “their worm dies not,” and the “fire is not quenched” (Mk. 9:48). The wrath of God “abides” (present tense — keeps on abiding) on the lost person (Jn. 3:36).
Various figures are employed in connection with the words “forever” or “everlasting” (e.g., chains, contempt, destruction, torment; see Dan. 12:2; Mt. 18:8; 25:41, 46; 2 Thes. 1:9; Jude 6-7; Rev. 14:11; 19:3; 20:10). It is not the mere effect of punishment that is eternal, but the actual punishment itself (Mt. 25:46).
